Venice in May!

I will be an Artist in Residence at The Scuola Internazionale di Grafica from May 10 – May 31, 2013. I will be working on a series of etchings made in homage to Galileo, who in 1609 introduced his telescope on top of St Marks Bell tower. The studio is a beautifully equipped print and bookmaking facility, and of course, there is the beauty and history of Venice from which to draw inspiration. I will post updates here as I move ahead with this project.

A new project I’m working on

Bartram’s Box Remix is a collaborative project between the Center for the Art in Wood and Philadelphia’s Bartram’s Garden, the historic garden of 18th century explorer and bontanist John Bartram.

Philadelphia poet Beth Feldman Brandt and I are collaborating on this piece that will explore three themes, The Journeys, The Storms and the Caretakers. The work deconsists of 3 handmade boxes that each contain a scroll of illustarions, a commonplace book with Beth’s poems and quotes from the writings of the Bartram family and artifacts from various trees.

I will post the dates of the exhibits when they have been determined.
