The Fountain in MoonlightThe FOUNTAIN IN MOONLIGHT is a collaboration of design by Claire Owen and Daniel Tucker using the graphic work of Brazilian artist Samico. It was developed as a book using a series of woodcuts Samio produced during the years 1979-1993. Their original size averages 22 inches by 36 inches. The prints were reduced photographically, and etched into wood using laser. There is no written text to the book; titling was set and printed with the wood blocks by Art Larson at Horton Tank Graphics, in Massachusetts. The finished book measures 17 inches by 12 inches. The black morocco binding, designed by Tini Miura, has foil stamping on the cover, and a silk clam-shell case, and was bound by Einen Miura in Tokyo, Japan. The paper is Mitsumata Vellum, by renown Japanese papermaker, Heizaburo Iwano. The edition consists of 26 copies numbered 1-26, and signed by the artist with four artist proofs.

Gilvan Samico is a well known artist in his native Brazil, where his work is represented in most major museums, including The Museum of Modern Art in Sao Paulo.
